Deliciously Simple Coin Dog Appetizer

Imagine throwing a surprise birthday party for your loved one, filled with laughter, joy, and, of course, delectable food. We hosted such a party for my wife a few years back. One standout dish that left an unforgettable impression on the guests was the delightful "Coin" Dog appetizer, a recipe sourced from a beloved cookbook. This appetizer is not only incredibly easy to prepare but also packs a punch in flavor, making it a perfect crowd-pleaser. The combination of crispy chips and savory hot dogs creates a satisfying crunch and taste that keeps everyone coming back for more. In fact, the demand for this tasty treat was so high at the party that the caterer had to rush out to replenish the supply of hot dogs and chips! Whether you're hosting a party or simply looking for a fun snack, the Coin Dog appetizer is sure to impress. Its simplicity and deliciousness make it a must-try for any occasion!

Ingredients

  • 1 Package of beef or pork hot dogs

  • 1 large bag of corn chips (preferably scoopers)

  • 1 cup WAM (Watts Sauce and Mustard) ( page 8)

  • Water for cooking the hotdogs

Directions

1. Either cook hot dogs in boiling water and then cut into coin size bites ( approximately 1/4 inch in thickness) or cut hot dogs into coins and cook in microwave oven until hot.

2. Place each hotdog coin onto a single corn chip.

3. Apply 1/2 teaspoon of WAM onto the hotdog coin.

4. Best served warm.

NOTE

Normal serving size is 3 – 6 “coin” dogs per person but warning..... they are addicting
